I have a 1997 Pontiac grand prix supercharged. When I try to start it, it just makes weird sounds and shuts off. pressing on the gas will keep it revving but it sounds god awful and shuts off as soon as I let go of the gas. Car has 178 thousand miles on it. I got the car scanned and it has too many error codes to count. I have replaced the MAF sensor twice and nothing changed. It has had rough idling problems and randomly loses power and sounds like it sputtering before it died all together. It completely quit on me when I didn't realize I was out of gas and drove it home. The next day it wouldn't stay started, and I kept pushing the gas. Ive heard that this can damage the fuel pump and other things. Any suggestions at all?
 


Need to hear what this "god awful noise" is. If you search youtube for GM 3800 rod knock is that the sound you hear? Wondering if the LIM gaskets leaked and finally spun some bearings...
 
no its not that, it sounds like sputtering. It used to make the sound when I was driving and I would lose all power and just be rolling but I was pushing the gas down almost all the way. seems everytime it happened I was trying to turn onto a road and I got in everyone way
 
Can you post all the codes you got from the scan? That would go a long way.

Sputtering like it's loosing fuel?
