96 GTP tranny troubles!!!

I have a 96 3.4L GTP and i've lost reverse and in driveit shifts back and forth from nuetral to "in gear". Is the tranny shot??? What years and engine sizes are compatable with this year and engine size for expanding my search for a new trans if needed?.... Please Help!!!
 


hmmm....If this is the 4 speed automatic with overdrive, That tranny is junk (Can't stand the abuse from the Quad cam). Since Its a 60 degree V6, It shares same components as the 3.1 Multi-port and SFI. You could try your luck finding a Getrag 284 5 speed manual, or find another 4T60-E HydraMatic Auto transaxle...Not many choices on trannys because most other ones aren't rated for over 200 horses and 235 ftlb. torque.
 
AHH the 3.4 GTP loved the car and engine it would blow the doors off my 02 GTP but yeah i smoked a trans in mine too I had a 95 GTP too just take it out bit the bullet and have it rebuilt by a shop finding a different one is a hassle for those and you still dont know what your getting. bring the trans to a shop out of the car and let them build it will save u a huge chunk of change and it will be a "new" trans. only way to go id reccomend.
