96 gtp temp spikes

Hi there.
I have a 96 gtp and the temp is spiking into the red then goes back down to 210. I replaced the thermostat then took car to shop for a engine flush. Im not sure they did the job right. The guy had his machine hooked up backwards spilling coolant all over.....anyway im not sure he bled the system as the car is doing the same thing. How do you get the air out with the bleeder valve. I can see it and turn the screw and coolant comes out but not sure how the process works.

You have air in the system. I had the same problem the day I drove my car home after I purchased it from the origanal owner. All I did was add coolant to a COOL radiator, start the car, open bleeder valve, the bleeder valve should hiss a little meaning the air is ecaping, when water starts to come out close the valve. That is all I did and it has been fine ever since. I don't know how it got low to begin with because it has not lost any coolant since I added it over 4 thousand miles ago.

I also had the same problem, check any hoses 4 leaks and if u have high mileage replace the intake manifold gaskets. They tend 2 give away and coolant leaks in2 your motor, common for these cars from what ive read. My temp would go up and down do to this. When i took out the old gaskets they were falling apart.

it really does sound like air.. bleeder valve open.. open radiator cap.. turn car on.. pour water into radiator.. as soon as u see a solid stream close the bleeder and shut the cap. your temp problem should then be fixed.

I have figured out why my collant was low, leaking LIM gasket, it's leaking into the injector pockets, at least it's not into the crankcase. I do already have all the gaskets to replace them but just have to find the time. I suggest you check around for water around the inkectors where they go inot the head to see if this is where your collant has gone, if that is what turns out out be your prob.
