I've had my GP since october and other that my Rad Fans not working i've not had any problem til now , my girlfriend drove the car yesterday and as she was leaving the college it died a few times but started back up, then this morning i drove the car and it did fine til after work but started spitting almost like it was cutting out , never did die on me but when you rev the motor up to about 2500 and let off you can hear a sound that sounds like backfiring in the exhaust. could this be a crankshaft sensor problem or fuel filter, or something more?

sounds like the classic crank sensor wire is melted somewhere and is grounding. i did a rebuild on a 95 se and the thing ran good except for the knock, well when i had the engine out the crank sensor to ignition module wire was bare in spots, so i repaired it, but i actually seen a 93 se short out, bckfire, spit and sputter. sometimes it would run fine. i changed everything.....finally i kept saying it had to be a wire problem, so i went and got a used crank sensor wire(i chose the best one i could find) no oil on it etc.....got his old one off and upon inspection, yes there it was both wires were bare in almost the exact same spot...they were grounding out, car been running for over a year and hasnt stalled once! good luck let us know.

I had the same problem. I put my OBDII scanner and it told me that it was my MAF sensor and Throttle control sensor. I let it ran for about 15 minutes and the problem stopped; and hasn't happened again...knock on wood..
