ok so i have a '95 grand prix and like the thread title says, the damn thing wont start. just started happening yesterday (1/08/13). woke up to go to class (6:30am) started the car so it could warm up, it chugged a bit. like it didnt want to start for a sec. then fired right up and it started making a very loud squeeling noise, like the belt was slipping, i didnt think anything of it. so i drove to school the car squeeled the whole way. that concerned me. then at 2pm when i left it did it again, squeeled the whole way home. (about a 45 min drive one way). oh almost forgot. the car ran for about 15 - 20 minutes before i left. anyway, got it home and in the garage, popped the hood, still squeeling. i didnt see any of the pulleys stuck, they were all turning. so i am dumbfounded as to the squeeling. so i shut the car off and tried to start it again. BARELY started... was chugging really hard before it finally did fire up. so i moved it the rest of the way into the garage and shut it off again... and it hasnt moved since. i have tried: hooking the battery up to a charger, did nothing, battery was fully charged. tonight my dad and i are going to pull the starter so i can take it to orielys to have it tested. if that doesnt work we will do the same with the alternator. i dont have a problem with my passkey, no security light comes on. i have absolutly no clue what the problem could be... does anyone have any idea? i will update this thread tomorrow with the results of the started test.

well i was going to remove the starter and take it in tomorrow to have it checked, so of course the starter is still attached. it will wait till tomorrow night before its checked unfortunatly... so ill be updating it again tomorrow.

take the accessory belt off, then fire it up, if it starts right up like normal id put money on the water pump or the a/c compressor locking up.

shut it off if it started, and hand spin all the pulleys, the one thats not spinning freely is the problem.

thanks for the suggeestions guys... but we found the problem, the starter took a crap. i have the new one and am going to put it in tomorrow
