95 grand prix with 3.1L wont start

got a partner with this vehicle and the car wouldn't start one day after a trip. he had me check it out and i found out he needed a starter. when i replaced the starter the vehicle wouldn't even attempt to start. when i turned the key over it was nothing.

i then noticed that the security light in the dash was constantly blinking when the key is in the position you would try and start the car.

so is the security of the car keeping it from trying to turn over?
 


mines a diff year, but i had a flashing security light and it would turn over and run for a few seconds then shut off.
 
yeah i could bump it over manually but the car wouldn't stay started. guess it didn't help that i forgot i left two spark plugs out :-( which meant when i was manually bumping it over it was only trying to start on 4 cylinders. now i think i shorted the solenoid when i was bumping it. cuz now all the stater does is spin. it doesn't engage any more.
