95 grand prix dies

I have a 95 grand prix it would die as soon as you stepped on the gas, so my husband changed the fuel pump because that was suggested by a mechanic friend. Once changed he went to drive got a block and a half and died, now every time you put it in gear it dies, any suggestions.

It idles fine you can rev even, but you put it in gear it dies

Sounds like the torque converter is stuck in lock up
