92 Grand Am with no brakes.

Hello everyone, new member here and would greatly appreciate some info. I just bought a 92 Grand Am SE with the 3.1 for $50 off my neice. It's in pretty good condition and will need some TLC but the main reason why shy got rid of it was no brakes. I started it up yesterday and put in in gear to see how the tranny was and it took off. I thought when they meant no brakes it would have something but it had literly no brakes. So I started doing some checking and kinda confused since it has ABS... The resivoir was full but looked blacked. Any ideas?? There is no ABS light on in the dash so could this be a simple master cylinder or something to do with the ABS??

So does the pedal go to the floor? It's either got air in the lines or it needs a new master cylinder.

To my knowledge there is no way that an ABS unit can cause symptoms like your describing.

There is only three things that can cause the pedal to go to the floor.

Air in the line.
Bad master cylinder
Or a leak somewhere in the lines or fittings (you said you had flluid in the resivior so that can't be it.)
