Hey guys. I installed an 8 rib setup and when the car idles down in gear only there a rubbing sound and the belt jumps a little. Tried moving the MPS hub in and out, nothing worked. Tried messing with the new idlers and put a new tensioner on. Still nothing. Im running out of ideas. Maybe idle is set too low in the tune? Any help would be appreciated.

i have no idea unless the spring in your tensioner isnt strong enough, but that doesnt make sense to me. it seems like it is slipping on the crank pulley or something.

No it doesnt feel like its missing. I took the s/c belt off and it runs absolutely perfect. This is what really puzzles me. I even put the 6 rib belt on it and it still does it so i know its not the belt thats hitting. I was leaning towards one of the 8 rib idler pulleys. i wouldnt think the crank pulley would be messed up?

Re: 8 rib help!

Idlers seem to be running good. I emailed zzp about this and sent them the video and i got a reply of " its a misfire." I guess i dont see how this could be a misfire cause if you take the s/c belt off it runs smooth as can be. And when it is idling the s/c belt is the only one that does this. I just finished rebuilding the snout today and that didnt help any. Any other ideas?

when you take off the blower belt, does the supercharger pulley still spin on its own? if not, it is possible that you tightened down the blower funny and it is binding. that would be VERY bad if youre running the car like that.

No it doesnt feel like it is binding. i though the same thing thats why i rebuilt the snout, but it didnt help any with the belt jumping.

Here are the things I would check.

Belt tension
Pulley alignments
Pulley movement
Belt type and length

If all of that check out then there's no reason it shouldn't work.

ok, Belt tension: New tensioner
Belt size: had a 08685 went to a 08680. no effect
Pulley movement: doesnt seem to turn really hard or really loose that i have noticed. took them off and spun them by hand, spun about 2 or 2.5 turns.
Alignment: should be the same as the old setup using the same mounting correct?

Also do you think this could be caused by the balancer?
