8* of KR with cam, 3.4, FS IC, 90# springs. Nothings adding up (attached HPT logs).



As suggested I added my WB to the logs it is still a bit rich. This is the worst knock out of a few pulls other ones hit 3-5KR this one was the worst and I dont understand why.

Yes I have 2 sensors that indicate temps around the IC. One for air temp post IC and a water temp gauge on the HE. I also have a light I installed into the instrument panel as an IC pump failure light that lights up when the connection between power and the pump are lost.

Plus I have a tendency to check the pump for warmth and vibration on a daily bases.
 


times like this i wish i had hp or you had dhp. cause i could send you a bin file, 99% of the time i get wtf did you do, how and why does it feel so much better, how did you get rid of my kr?

ive done a good handful of remote tunes with dhp. everyone ends up happy.....

im not a fan of that zeroing out the fuel vs time folder at all. once your in pe mode thats the file that controls the fueling. zero it, and you get nothing.

What do you recommend doing with that table then? With the table left in place im run pig rich at WOT without it im at 11 on the wide-band. Could I send you a bin to look at?
 
Add vs rpm/time only adds to the commanded AFR, it's not really controlling anything. They are just set numbers that are in the computer telling it to send more fuel in. Disabling that tables makes it so you have the final control over what amount of fuel you wish to give it, not letting the computer add more in. You can tune them either way but for many it's easier to just not use that feature.

The MAF curve is still the table controlling how much fuel to send in based on how much airflow it see's.
 
you would have to dl the old vs of hpt, its in the drop box, then you can open a dhp bin, and your cars bin, you might need to re read your car with old hp vs so it works in the old version, not 100% sure but you'll find out once you set it up.

old vs is in the drop box in the tuning section its the top thread and a sticky. theres tuned hpt files in the bin section, but theres way more dhp stuff in there.

then i could send you bin files you can look over and compare and make changes.

being it made my trim + vs - before the change, ill have to disagree there, changing that folder up is felt. it also slowed the wb's drop to 11.3. it used to just drop to hi 10's as soon as i nailed the pedal, now it slowly drops to 11.3.

all i changed was the time vs fuel folder. my maf is still 100% stock to this day. i tuned my injectors to make the trims right being i got 42's theres room to do that.
 


I'm just telling you how the airflow tables work, if you don't think it's right you're still wrong.

Fueling is always based on airflow, the more airflow the motor see's the more fueling it's going to give. The way you have tuned the car is by fudging other aspects of the tune you get what you want, it can work sometimes but it is still incorrect.

If someone added a cam and it was too rich at part throttle you wouldn't start skewing the injector flow rate tables or open loop tables to remove fuel or add fuel, you would adjust the airflow tables to tell the computer that it needs to remove/add fuel. You do that by removing/adding a small percentage from the VE or MAF curve.


Tuning the flow rate tables or using the add vs rpm/time table to get the results you want it just fudging numbers and a hack way to tune.
 
i would maf tune if it had stock injectors, but being i dont, yes i tuned them to the maf you could say. my file is not all fudged up either, its all rather steady cell to cell. nothing of a huge change cell to cell thats for sure. ive posted my injector file before.

and ill ad, out of every canned tune ive seen, none, i repeat, none, have the that folder zero'ed out. they are all leaned out vs the stock settings.

My mail order tune from Will had it zeroed.
 
ive seen a few of his before, none were zero'ed, but that dnt mean he dont do it. only ones ive seen zero'ed are tuned bins in the drop box in the name folders, and those are even rare to find. most have the file tuned. i really only look at dhp files, i cant read hp files unless i install hp.
 
Well I messed with my timing running only about 9-10 just to stay away from knock feels like I'm going backwards here but not sure what else to do. Most knock I see now is 2-3
 


you should be able to pull off 18 wot.

im a hi comp bottom swap so im at 16 right now. last summer 13 wot, but ive changed up a few things, have to wait for the summer heat to show up again.

but im kr free now, and will back the timing down if need be come summer to not have kr.
 
Whats the best way to add timing smoothly through out the power band? I know you can add here and there but seems your transitioning isn't as smooth that way.
