5 speed shifter rebuild

I tried the search but kept coming up with different things. My shifter seems sloppy & have to reach for 5th. Is this the same as a Fiero shifter ? Is there a rebuild kit ? YWTK
 


AFAIK, there is no rebuild kit and the shifter is W-body only. You might be able to call the GM dealer and have them check on the bushings. Usually the problem is in the cable ends, and IIRC, the Neon bushings are similar in size.
 
Thank you, guess I'll need to wait for the service manual. Bet you are right, worn out bushings. OTOH my Vixen RV had a Fiero shiftwer but wwith a different pattern: reverse was up, toward the driver, and back. Much harder to accidently hit reverse.
