4T65E-HD lockup issue - engages really hard

Just as the title says, my 4T65E-HD is freshly rebuilt (approx 10k on it since rebuild, from a 98GTP); and recently I've noticed two things.

Sometimes it seems to want to hold on to gear a little longer than it should. When I'm accellerating a little quickly, then start coming off the gas, normally it would shift, occassionally it holds on to that gear a bit longer before dropping.

The major issue I'm having is between shifts. Notably between 2nd and 3rd. If I'm accellerating really slowly from a stop, it'll shift smooth as ever into second, then the torque-lockup thingy happens, and that just SLAMS in. Big huge jerk when that goes, a horrible feeling. I'm afraid it's going to bust something. Then it'll shift into third just fine.

If I'm GIVING it off the line, 1/2 throttle or greater, it works just fine. Haven't noticed an issue with it under medium-heavy accelleration when it goes in, just under really light accelleration.

Any ideas? It's driving me nuts, and I would like to fix it before I break something. Thanks guys!

If you check codes you may find a code P0742. I have talked to quite a few people with a similar problems as yours and they lucked out and changed the TCC solenoid and it fixed the problem but that doesnt mean that is always the answer. It sounds like lockup is definately coming on in 2nd which when this happens will come on very hard just as you explained and is either cause by an internal issue or there is a code that has set.
