is there a specific # on a transmission the i can write down and try and trace one down at the scrapyard?
my tranny finally went today and now im looking at options and im leaning towards doing it my self and buying a used tranny from a scrapyard.
 


Just find another 3800 that is S/C'd. They all got the HD trans. Anything from 97-02 should work IIRC. 03 has some differences.
