What would be a fair or good price for a backyard mechanic that I trust from previous repairs to do head gaskets on a 1995 Grand Prix with a 3.1L engine ? I guess there are 2 gaskets, should he change both or just check & fix 1 side ? how long per side or to do both would it take say @ a normal pace ? Would there be any special tools needed ? And could you buy the repair parts in some sort of kit for convience or save $$$ ? Thank-you.
 


yea, get a head set. and it just depends on how good he is as to how long it will take. and replace both sides, not just one. also if i were doing it, id change about 300-400 to do it
 
yeah the felpro head kits are about 160 - 170 with new head bolts for 3.8 , probably take a whole day , maybe day and a half without compressed air and hand tools, 3.1 shouldent be too much difference
