Ok I know I might not make a lot of friends with this thread but since when is a 4 dr car something to consider a sports or performance car?!?!? I can't stand 4 drs. I mean I understand there are a lot of people out there with kids and groceries to haul around but that is what mini vans and station wagons were designed for. A 2 dr is a sports car. I wouldn't ever consider even thinking about trying to mod a 4 dr of any make. I mean come on?!?!? Who is with me? Dodge can take its charger 4 dr (built on a chrysler 300 frame) and stick it if they want to think people will want to think its cool enough to be considered as a sports car. We all know the hemi is not even truly hemispherical anyway. Lame, just totally lame!!!

First, 4 Doors look better than 2 doors.
Second, I can haul more people comfortably and still blow your doors off.
Third...well...for the record. My 4 door will walk circles around MOST 2 door "sports cars" anyways...hands down.

/End thread.

yeah, you'd typically think of 2 doors as being faster... but what about those of us who need something practical too? 4 doors is easier to haul stuff than 2 doors, but does that mean that I can't have a decently fast car? absolutely not. So by this thread does that mean you dislike the CTS-V? If so you are crazy

Not sure if you missed the whole point of my argument about 4 drs. It was not that your 4 dr isn't faster than a 2 dr. I'm talking about the design of the car and what people think about that being a performance car. Its obvious you could put a crate motor in a station wagon and make it faster than a 2 dr grand prix. The real point is why would pontiac and dodge move away from 2 dr cars and toward 4 drs for the lower end sports cars? Also people who mod the 4dr grand prixs......why? 4dr=lame. Plain and simple.

No...4 door = win. But your missing the point of going fast and hauling a bunch of stuff while doing it too.

Wanna talk Dodge then? Magnum SRT8...runs low 13's. PLENTY of 2 door sports cars it is faster than. Plus...it looks mean too...none of that Jap rice crap.

On the contrary I think the Cadillac CTS-V is an amazing car, but then again its geared toward retired people who like a cushy ride but still have the power under the hood. If you are truly interested in that then consider it a luxury vehicle 1st and 2nd a car with power but its definitely not first of all a sports car. Cadillac is a different story because they have and always will be known for luxury first. I mean you don't see Cadillac vs corvette in gtp series racing do you?

THIS.

Makes no sense whatsoever. What is GTP series racing? And for that matter the new CTSV is just as fast as the Corvette, rides better, looks better, sounds better (thank you Eaton1900), and is cheaper.

There is really only a handful of cars I would take over a CTS-V. Plus remember, most people don't care about modding cars, or even fast cars for that matter. Usability is a primary goal for most drivers, performance second. Car companies have to go where the money is, and that is usability. What gives one nice car an edge over another nice car is its power and fuel economy. Hence the (i hate saying this) new Taurus SHO.

no offense to anyone. ive owned both the 4 door, and the 2 door. and i love my 2 door that i have now. they look so much nicer IMO. but still i respect fast 4 door gtp's too of course.

I guess you are right ZRVette09. I might need to think outside the box a bit. I have the luxury of having 2 cars; one designed to be a sports car and one for everything else so maybe that's why I'm so against a 4 dr "sports" car. In general I think it would be better if people could keep the two separate but I understand the benefits of economy and performance meeting in the middle.

looks pretty hemispherical to me.

Ive owned both 2 and 4dr cars and Besides a gto,t/a ,new maro,or a classic will probably never own a 2 dr again That being said
2 door cars are traditional sports cars But Ive seen plenty of 4dr cars walk on 2 dr "sports cars"

Its all in what you see your car as
If its pushing over 300 hp and can turn a 1/4 in under mid 13's ill give it a performance car title or view

Plenty of so called 2dr sports cars cant touch alot of "family cars"

As far as minivans and station wagons I hate then have owned both and they arent for me ill take my 4dr cars any day
