3800 V6 cat back exhaust system same as 5.3 V8???

I need to know if a cat back exhaust system for a 3800 V6 GT will fit the 5.3 V8 GXP platform - 2006 model year. ZZ Performance has a SS cat back system but hasn't test fitted it on the GXP - are the tubing lengths and cat flange dimensions the same as the 3800?

Anyone know - please post, my exhaust system is about to fail and I need to order a new one ASAP - but don't want to order it if it won't fit. Thanks in advance for any help!

Fitted the ZZP 2.5" cat back system last night. It fits the 5.3L V8 for length and flange connection location just fine. The main problem I had was getting the mufflers and tips located in the centers of the cut-outs. It's got a good sound but a little more 'drone' than I was expecting.

Anyone know if they mellow with time? I've read there is a break-in period but imagine it will only get louder, not quieter. Overall though pretty happy with the system for the money.
 
its not so much the mufflers as it is the Displacement on demand the 5.3 has. the 4 cyl shutoff while cruising is probably the culprit of the drone lol.
 


Well, I shut off the DoD system so that's not it. Probably just the big displacement but its annoying at certain rpm ranges. I dont mind putting up with it, but the wife and kids won't like it. Haha

So the 3800 exhausts fit the 5.3, no issues? That would certainly give GXP owners more exhaust choices other than the expensive Magnaflow.

oh thats good to know! drone gets to me too sometimes, especially during city driving and i had heard the damn DoD is always the culprit. but now ill be more careful with my choices when i get new mufflers
 


Yes, the ZZP system fits the GXP, no problem. I liked the stock system but would have had as much money in OEM system as the ZZP so took the risk. Its not that loud outside the car, just annoying drone inside at certain rpm ranges.
