3800 Tick of DeAtH!

OK well its not the tick of death however it is annoying. I know that when cold our cars have the issue of ticking due to the bore size compared to the piston size, of course once the car is warm ticking gone and i can now start breathing again (blew two engines before in another car, hate this noise). My question is, what can we do to lessen this, can i put a thicker oil in for the summer? Maybe a bottle of lucas? I already run Valvoline High Mileage Semi-Synth 10W-30, just wanna do whatever i can to keep the bearings safe and the engine intact and lasting a long time.

I'm going to say thicker oil. I know right when i switched to synthetic my engine started ticking at cold startup. then it goes away after its warmed up.

this is bad for the engine?

as long as you dont drive cold im guessing its ok, its been an issue with these engines for a while from what i read, i think im going to ad some Lucas to the oil, love that stuff put it on my waffles in the morning :)

It's not piston slap (what you were referring to). That's what happens on 60* V6 engines, not the 3800. What you're hearing is simply the lifters before they get pumped up with oil. Nothing to be concerned about.
