a friend just wrote me on facebook asking about his park ave running hot and cutting off... what does that sound like to yal. but he has a new thermostat

Well, the running hot could be that he needs to correctly bleed the cooling system since he just replaced the thermostat.

The shutting down could be a number of things. Does he notice if the tach drops to zero before shutting down? Kinda thinking crank position sensor on this one.

i looked at the car earlier today.. i seen the orange lookin spot under the intake... where the water is coming from when its running hot.. and i think he just needs a tune up... the spark plugs rusted ... smh ppl not taking care of they shi*

So you took a look and found orange Dexcool coming from around the intake? Where abouts on the intake is it leaking? My guess would be around where the TB is.

And yes, plugs/wires need to be changed as well, but that won't solve the overheating issue. Methinks it's time for LIM gaskets and possibly a new UIM, but not knowing the year it's only a guess.

1998 buick park ave.. with 3.8.. dexcool coming from the back of backside by the tb and intake.. residue goes from intake to transmission.. he just asking me to fix the car my quess when i seen it was intake gaskets and waterpump.. also a tune up cause the plugs are shot and the wires probably are too... he has a new tstat and radiator.. any other ideas... idk where to get a compression tester from...

i think the egr tunnel blew out. going into the lim and coming out the sides

It leaks internally, not externally. Although it could leak from the tube if it's not sealed or is cracked, once the car is turned off. You would have to be burning a lot of coolant for this to be happening though.

External leaking in this case would more likely be a TB gasket
