3.0 Pulley

What do i need to run a 3.0 pulley? I have headers, full exhaust, water meth, i will be installing one of my phenolic intercoolers, probably a ssic version for now. I have a northstar tb and lq4 maf, but no money right now for a tune or injectors, so was wondering if i could get away with it for now and just bump up my fuel pressure slightly ( i have an adjustable fpr). Its an l67 with a l36 lower. I will be making a cai also. Any thoughts? If not ill wait but im just gettin impatient because im running out of money and i was gonna do it all at once, but maybe i can do it in stages instead. Thanks.

You'll need the two things you can't afford right now to be able to run what you said you want to

42.5 # injectors and at least a PCM (tuner if you want to do it right.. Oh yeah and a new tranny :)

dammit, doesnt zzp say you can run the 3.0 on stock injectors though? lol i believe you though... i have the dhp 1.0 although that wont help me if i put in the other stuff...

Well ZZP says a lot of things. You'll get to about a 3.4-3.2 before you need have to get new ones. And with the above pulley you're pushing 80 low 90's on your IPW's. With the adjustable FPR you have you may be able to get to a 3.2. But your still going to be in the 90's for sure.

I'd rather have a little head way.

yea, true, im runnin a 3.4 right now, also, as far as a tune goes, who does them? i know i can go to overkill and tell them what i have and all but is an actual in car tune gonna be that much better? i dont have the money for a tuner and i have no idea how to use one either.

I can do one for you if you need me to.. Tuners are definetly involved. But worth it.

Honestly I'd buy a DHP Powertuner (If you can get ahold of one) or buy HP Tuners software. Nothing beats a custom tune for a custom setup IMO.

tdc... how much would you charge? Here is going to be my mod list....

3.0 pulley, northstar tb, lq4 maf, lucas 42.5 lb injectors, ported m90, water meth, cai, walbro 255lph fuel pump, fuel rails, intercooler.

I dont know if listing all that is necessary, but i want to be thorough. I will be sending a stock pcm not my dhp one, as i want to sell it later.

The ported blower, intercooler, and injectors will be your best purchases right there. The walbro pump honestly is just a simple replacement to a great fuel pump already on stock cars. You don't really need to spend that money there, FWIW ZZP uses a stock pump in their 8 second car.

My suggestions, and you can take it as what you want.

Use your intercooler, get injectors, Throttle body and MAF, and most importantly a tune.

IMHO the rails look nice, but you can survive until later down the road. The PCM will be the one thing that ties it all together here. Get a tune that's gonna make things come together. If TDC can do it for ya, then give it a try. He and I both are all about helping out, and saving money whenever possible.

oh sorry if i didnt make it clear enough in the post, i already have the rails, northstar tb, and lq4 maf, just not installed yet, obviously cause lack of tune. i would need the injectors though.

my brother has the walbro pump brand new i can get off of him for cheap, so i might just throw it in for cheap insurance since mine has 178,000 on it.

Don't waste your money on the SSIC, they suck (i've owned one). Get a Full Sized IC or don't get one at all. Alky by itself is wayyy better than a ****ty SSIC...

I gotcha. Well then might as well put them on. I'd honestly hold out for some injectors, one thing that you do not want to do is run out of fuel. I was only able to squeeze a 3.25 out of my car with my adjustable FPR. It's always good to err on the side of caution...because as you go down in pulley sizes, the KR risk goes up. With a 3.4, 3-4 degrees may be acceptable sometimes...but when you get down to the 3.0 range and below, the affects compound themselves. Something that small with even 2* of knock can be as bad as 7* on a 3.4

ill just wait then, also, would the 3.29 gears from the impalas be a good upgrade or not worth the time? i need more acceleration!!!

lol i make them iron, and fwiw, the phenolic version is still gonna outperform the zzp unit though.

The Core itself is what sucks, not the body. That won't be the issue. You'd be better off with the Fullsized unit, especially with that phenolic body, best of both worlds. Hell, since you make em anyway, theres really no excuse not to run a Full Sized! Just run a Fullsized unit and thank me later for guiding you in the right direction. :th_winking:

BTW, how much do you sell those Phenolic Full Size cores for?

As for gears, i'd stick with what you got for now. Unless you want 1st gear to be useless for you without some sticky rubber...

yea, i guess so, first gear is useless anyways if i lose traction ( i always do), i sell them for $360 shipped. I could throw one on, i just have alot of people wanting them and im trying to locate more materials as i have the materials at the moment for a ssic version.
