Also, I'm still working on things like chatbox, etc so hopefully those will be working in the next week or two.

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

well on my car it was louder with the windows up
the best way is to take the whole back seat out for more air flow but i didn't want to do that, tho its also not dyno matted

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

keep it all below the window line i hit 148 on a 2 ma audio hard kore 12s running a ma audio amp 10,000 watts 2200 rms each sub .5 ohm mono with a 180 amp alt 2 batteries in the spare tire well. That was on a termpro mic and metered on the dash. full dynamat roof trunk doors and floor. 2 door black gtp with a huge box and no back seat. wall in a car i wouldnt ne ways. damn close to 150 below the windows and i could have had the seats in but pull for the mic comp.

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

If you walled it, it would be louder because of the lower amount of air the speakers have to pressurize.

I hit 118 with music with two of these each in a cubic foot box on 150 watts each.

Front soundstage keeps up until 110 as well.

This is with the car in full trim.

Where did you order your alt from

Order? Find a reputable shop nearby that will warranty their work. Saves time and money on shipping when it fails. (HO alts fail more often since they're under higher stress with no real cooling system improvements.)

where did they but the mic? (pic if you have one)
so the box is your back seat or dose it just hang out your opening?

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

On gpona there's a guy into SPL who's placed in world finals. SPL isn't about just power, but installation and design.

I believe that gentleman told me that our cars seem to have some nice cabin gain around 42hz. Box and install are extremely important though; and there is no replacement for displacement ;)

Think surface area, stroke, and Xmax.

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

Stroke = Xmax unless you're trying to break it ;)

The 3800 at idle produces a nice 40 Hz growl too.

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

Did they ever release how their new "linear Bl" tech works? Or are they just claiming things?

Im still kicking my self cuz I cant find pics it was in a black 99 GTP coupe the box was built in 3 pieces of 1/2" mdf doubled up to get 1" and tuned to 38hz in a box around 6 cubic feet 3 cubic foot per side and ported down the middle. I cant remember how big the box was or port dimensions exaclty designed on 12volt.com every thing came out except the dash to make it fit and cut some bracing behind the seats to make it fit. I could still run the back seats in and closed armrest if I wanted. I hit 148 mic'd on the dash with a termpro mic. that was in 2005 before I went to Iraq and sold the car:th_bangheadonwall:. Regret it every time take a long drive in my car.:(

Not when you're dealing with design. Maybe I should have been more definitive. Actual stroke vs. available stroke is what I was attempting to convey. Just because it's there doesn't mean it's used. Conversely, it doesn't mean you can't bottom out your sub either. What if you start clipping before you ever reach available Xmax? It's all dependent on power used vs. design.

Displacement is key.

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

I believe the Ma Audio Hard Kore 12's I had were 38mm Xmax peak to peak. I wouldnt run a pair of subs bigger than 12s good luck fitting anything bigger facing forward. Im sure it can be done but I dont like the response of anything bigger than 12's either. Next set up like I said before will be 2 soundsplinter or DD 8's in the 6x9 location and walled off in the trunk. Maybe 10's will fit in the rear deck....:th_scratchhead:

Re: The ULTIMATE SPL THREAD!!

If its not ported its a waste of time IMO too... 12volt.com has an excellent box calculator.
