2008 GP Sunroof Won't Go Down

I have a 2008 GP with approx 100k on the clock. Just recently the sunroof would not go down. It slides all of the way back and when it comes forward it starts to go down then stops. It appears the problem is on the driver side, if I push down on the passenger side it will go down in flush, the drivers side will not. There is a cut out on the stationary rail (about 4.5 inches from the back of the sunroof opening) that it looks like a piece attached to the glass should drop into, it appears that the piece on the glass is too far forward to drop into the cut out.

I am guessing it should drop down about a 1/2 inch sooner into the cutout and then slide forward to secure it. What triggers the window to tell it to start going down?

Is there an adjustment for when the glass starts to drop? Everything else appears to work fine, tilting up as well as sliding back. No weird noises or anything like that. First priority is getting it down so rain doesn't get in, would like to get it completely fixed, but not a priority.

Any suggestions would be appreciated,
John

Is there a way to see what is going on? In it? Remove glass? Any kind of access?

I am not familiar with 04+ but on 97-03 with sunroof like mine you can drop the overhead console and remove one visor catch and have enough room to unscrew the motor to disengage it. This allows manual cycling of the regulator and may help you locate the trouble. I have not had any luck fixing regulator issues but here's a hint- the sunshade likes to bind up once the upholstery starts to peel. That can jam it.
