2008 base GP Fuel filler tube question

While putting in gas last night, I found myself wondering where the little spring metal tab was that should be at the inlet mouth. Now I'm wondering if there was ever a metal tab there at all. Which now has me wondering if there once was one, where did it go? And also how did it disappear?
Can anyone verify if a 2008 GP filler tube has one of these tabs?
