2007 GXP Fouled Plugs and slight usage.

I have an 07 GXP with 167,000 miles on it. I love this car and everything operates as it should, however, I do foul plugs at one every couple years. I believe the #1 plug may be a little over a year between changes. I don't have to add oil real often. So no estimate of how much I use, I really don't think is much, So my questions are;
1. Does this sound like a horrible issue? I have read quite a bit about the foul issues,don't have a gauge as to how bad I have it.
2. Is it too late for a tune to disable the DOD?
3. If I do tune to delete DOD, would that require removing all of the DOD hardware from the engine?
4. Is it too late for the catch can addition?

Thanks much for any info, advice!!

Burning oil is a LS4 trademark thing if you ask me, so burning some extra isn't a horrible thing. If it's using more than a quart between oil change then that is getting pretty bad.

It's never too late to turn off the DoD/AFM system. You do not have to remove anything from the engine to disable it but if you did want to, you'd need a new camshaft, new lifters/push rods, new valley plate, new timing cover, new timing chain and gear with a few other odds and ends to do a true DoD/AFM delete.

You can install a catch can whenever you want.

Thanks for the reply! I'm really prolong the life in this car. Hoping to keep it as a winter car when I get my Vette. Thanks again!!

Catch can and tune will dramatically improve your situation. You don't need to do a physical dod delete. For plugs use tr5ix for a stock car. Go with a aftermarket wireset stockers suck

Like Parkave said tr5ixis is stock, but yours is using some oil so maybe look for a hotter plug and use oil that is a little thicker . Plugs 1,4,6 and 7 are DOD and usually are dirtier.

Thanks everyone for the info. I have read all the threads here regarding these issues but didn't know, if with my high mileage, it would be too late to make a change. Also, I had all the plugs replaced and was able to inspect the old ones. The #1plug was the only questionable plug. So I feel better about not having a horrible problem, with oil. Now time to get the tune and catch can done!! Thanks again all!!

The tune and catch can sure wouldn't hurt...that's guaranteed. Too late? IDK. Some run forever...I've seen some crap out with low mileage. It's just a shot in the dark, really.

I am told often how well maintained my car is and I'm not gonna lie about what a geek I am about it!! Just got back from a 600+ round trip holiday family visit up north. Half way up, I found a performance shop with an intune i2 in stock so I grabbed it! Other than seeing family, that was worth the trip for sure! Just did the DOD tune out. Didn't mess with anything else until I learn more about the effects. Was going to change the fan cut in but the percentage bar threw me so will do more research. Anyone have any ideas about how that works? Catch can is ordered. Luckily, I don't have a consumption issue as bad as others, but still hoping to see a difference. Definitely want to prolong the life of my car. Thanks again for all the input.
