2007 grand prix shuts down at 5000rpm

I have an 07 gp na, when i get the rpms around 5k, the engine shuts down as if you turn the key off. It does this under load or if it is in neutral. I can start it right after it dies. I have checked all the wiring, redid the grounds and power wires, replaced the maf, cleaned throttle body. It runs great untill 5k. Had a scan tool hooked up to it, when it dies the tool loses connection with the pcm. Any ideas?

Can the scan tool watch crank sensor and cam sensor functions??

I wonder if one drops out, then it thinks the motor has shut off then it "stalls" the motor and loses power for a split second causing it to reset.

Try a case/crank relearn anyway.

If the scanner is fancy enough it can do it.

I'm not saying it's the crank sensor at fault because they normally will fail at random while cruising or at stop lights, it loses signal and shuts fuel/spark off and it stalls. They will likely never throw an engine code either because it's not a "hard" fault, all it does with watch for a signal and when it's not there it think you shut the key off and it follows.
