2006 Pontiac stalling driving down highway!

My car has been acting up the last few months I will run 60-70mph down the highway and the car will just shut off at random. When it does the dash lights will flicker on and off several times and it will have trouble starting back up but normally does after the third or forth try.

It's doing this randomly it will go for a few days without it happening and then all of the sudden it will shut off. Like this morning on my way to work 44 miles one way it shut off on me twice back to back but after that I was able to dive to work without a issue.

I've recently put a new battery in it and I've also just replaced the crankshaft position sensor. Does this seem like a ground issue?

Anyone have a idea? I'm thinking about replacing the power and ground cables to start with and then if that's not it maybe a ignition problem?

Well Clark... first thing I'd like to know is.. what are you driving, meaning which model please. (cause you have 2006 in the title)

Sounds a lot like an ignition switch since you've already replaced the more common crank sensor.

Vinson clark,

I’m sorry you are experiencing this issue with your vehicle. This may be related to a ground issue; however, it is difficult to be sure.

Have you had the vehicle inspected for this issue? If not, I recommend you consult with a certified technician for an official diagnosis.

Please keep us posted.

If you have additional questions, please feel free to contact me privately.

I have not had the car inspected for this issue I'm thinking about carrying it to a gm dealership on Monday though because this has been a on going problem.

Check the ignition fuse under the hood... my car was doing similar things.. it would shut off here and there.. turns out.. it was because the fuse was melting instead of blowing... because of the aftermarket amp and radio i had... i used the ignition wire for accessory power.. causing more draw from the ignition power line. I ended up melting part of the fuse box and having to replace the whole thing. It hasnt shut off since. Worth a shot..
