What has to be removed in order to replace the thermostat in a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix Gxp?? Looks very tight where the housing is placed.

Can anyone tell me the best way to remove the old thermostat housing and thermostat???? Do the headers need to come off?? Any help greatly appreciated.

In the interest of time yea take the front manifold off that way you have room to do everything however I highly recommend some pb blaster on the manifold bolts the night before you attempt taking them off have extra bolts and studs on standby

If u Google 5.3L ls4 water pump replacement there's a good video how to that I've showed a few people to do theirs and also used the video my self to change a friends impala as water pump. But I recommend following 91parkave write up on how to remove the belt...its way way way easier

I take the above back if you can access the car from the bottom gm says to do it like this
