The 6x9s on my monsoon system went out, am I able to replace these with another brand of 6x9s with professional installation or will I lose bass and sound quality? I have heard I need to replace everything and I have heard I should replace the 6.5s in the front and the 6x9s in the back while keeping the monsoon amp and stereo. Any recommendations?

Wow no one responded. Well I’ll give my non-audiophile opinion that is based on a very small bit of personal experience.

Whom ever told you to replace everything is so full of $hit.:th_angry2: You just need replace the 6x9s with similar speakers. I’d say the big specs to match are the ohm rating and the watt rating. In all honesty at the speed the audio industry moves you won’t have any issues at all finding good replacement speakers. More over I’d bet your speaker specs are at best common equipment these days.

I replaced my 6x9s last year and my car hasn’t blown up yet. With that I did learn one thing, speaker magnets are freaking huge these days so consider that before you buy something that won’t fit.

Thanks for your input. I'll definitely be getting them replaced then, maybe I'll do my 6.5s in the front as well. I'm surprised/disappointed in the lack of responses.

well, personally I replaced mine well over a year ago with kicker 6x9's. I only connected the treble positive and negative wiring to the new speakers and they sound great. Yes I lost just a little bass but with a sub, its sound very good. Way better than the factory speakers. The clarity is a lot better when turned up. Im replacing my front speakers soon because of the horrible bass response at higher volume. Hope this kinda helps.

You do realize that with the Monsoon system the 6x9 is actually a subwoofer, with a smaller 3.5" full range driver nested within the 6x9. Now with that being said you could replace just the subwoofer if you wanted and have nothing but bass in the back

or you can replace with a full range 6x9 coaxial speaker of your choosing but then you have to do some rewiring, or you can replace with OEM type speaker 2006 PONTIAC GRAND PRIX Parts - GM Parts | GM Accessories | Shop GM Parts
