2006 GXP Transmission Whinning

I was moving my '06 GXP from NY to Las Vegas and while towing a 5x8 Uhaul trailer the tranmission temp got up to about 230 degrees. The engine light came on also. After stopping at a rest stop to have the car cool down, the car wouldn't shift out of 1st gear. I tried several times to restart the car. When I turn the car on it makes a loud whinning sound, but when i try to put the car in gear, i don't get any movement. Please help!!!
 


well, te whining while turning is more than likely the PS pump. If you are getting a whine while driving down the road... I would lean toward the PS pump low on fluid, or your trans pump is on its way out. judging by the overheated fluid.. I'd ask if the fluid smells burnt...

while towing anything you dont want the trans to be in OD.
