2006 GXP struts/springs upgraded?

I know these cars haven’t been made in a while, were all the replacement parts discontinued too? I can’t find anyone that makes a lowering spring or even a strut/spring oem replacement. I found $1,000 coil overs, but not looking for that. Am I just looking in the wrong place? Everything says exc. 18” wheels.

Thanks

Chris

you can swap over to 97-03 style and then use those lowering springs. personally I'd just be happy with the springs that came stock with the car. I have a 2001 and a 2008 and in stock form the 2008 is just as good as my 2001 with upgraded struts and springs.

Interesting, so the 97-03 retrofit? With the V8, doesn’t that have some added weight. What the problem is, the car is sitting 1/2-3/4 lower on passenger side. I’m assuming the spring was changed at one time or it simply wore out? Anyway, I am even having an issue just trying to find a “stock” strut/coil assembly for a GXP. They all state for 16 or 17” wheel only.

Thanks for the reply, I feel the springs are needing replaced as well bc of the height difference. I can’t see paying $1000 for struts/springs to put on a $5,000 car. At this point I’d probably just go with whatever I can get away with.

Think about this, people add aftermarket wheels all the time to cars.

People stop caring about what a specific part says it fits because it simple does not matter most of the time. The 18in rims that the GXP runs makes zero difference on what spring you can run or what struts. It's the offset of the wheel and tire size that matter, because that is going to cause the rubbing.

I believe SSC or Canuck Motorsports still makes lower springs for the 04-08 cars. It used to always say the GXP specific springs were gone but the regular springs would still fit. They just lower the car less.

Interesting that you say that. I emailed Canuck and they have been great to reply. They said any Grand Prix spring would fit. Only issue...they are out of stock on all springs until 2019. I just want a 1.5 drop and not the 2.5 that GXP specific springs give anyway.
