2006 Grand Prix Fuel Pump Replacment

Motor is throwing code that it's running lean. I havnt checked pressure but GM said it's most likely fuel pump. How hard is it to change? It doesn't have the access door like the previous models/years had which sucks. Any tips would be helpful as look forward to my endeavor! Could it be MAF, EGR. It starts hard takes about 5 seconds before it will start. Today when I started it and went to give it gas it started pulsing in Rpms-gaining and losing power for about -5 seconds then took off.
 


so many things could make it run lean. That said, the pump isn't that difficult to change. There is an access hatch in the trunk floor. At least, there is one in the '04, I would expect one in the '06? I would get a pressure gauge first though, and check the fuel pressure on the rail. A gauge is a lot cheaper than a pump, and will save you the cost of needlessly replacing the pump.

Most likely cause of running lean is a vacuum leak somewhere after the MAF.
