2005 GT Key stuck in dash mounted ignition

Hi all,

My friend has asked for help and while searching for a solution I came across this great site!

The problem: on his 2005 GT the ignition is dash mounted and the key cannot be removed. The car can be started, driven and turned off, but the key cannot be pulled out. I have found other threads refering to a similar problem, but those posts refer to a column mounted ignition switch. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

i have the same problem. i got the key out by removing the shift lock cable out of the ignition switch. but now the car will not start due to the anti theft system. now i have no idea how to reset the anti theft system. i know this is a older post, i dont know if u fixed this problem or not.
