2005 Grand prix GTP Gauge issues

Hey so i have a 2005 Grand Prix GTP comp-g and today i noticed that my temp gauge was not working, it just sat at the bottom. This caused my fans to run the whole time... So when i got home i disconnected the battery for 30min and checked and now the temp gauge works BUT instead of the normal gauge sweep when i start the car they just all shake at the bottom than go to their places... any ideas?

I'd try removing the cluster and inspect the connectors and clean them.

If the issue continues, then the cluster might need to be rebuilt or replaced.

At first I thought temp sensor died because only the temp gauge was at zero and fans were on high, but it might be a different issue.

so its been a few months now and im leaning towards the temp gauge.. but i want to be sure. So the gauge cluster jumping has stopped but about once a month my temp gauge wont move and the fans will run... if i disconnect the battery for about 30 min it will work for another month... Does this sound like a temp gauge issue? i have a quote from a shop at $200 but want to be sure before i take it there.

I would do the job myself but the winter here is brutal and it would be impossible

Alright so ive replaced the engine coolant sensor and it was good for about a week but now same issue has come back... engine coolant temp gauge will drop to 0 and car will go into "limp" mode with engine fans running constantly... plus hard starts ect.. it also throws a soft code for ECT temp.. if I clear the code its fine and everything works normally but it will come back after a few days any ideas?
