2005 Grand Prix cruise control nto working - Yes, I've read the other threads...

Ok, really I have read them. Out of pure ignorance, what is this "3rd row light" or whatever you are calling it? My gf's cruise isn't working and I see that most of the ones that aren't working are not actually cruise control related, but a few are. I've tried my best to check all the lights, turn signals etc. but want to make sure I'm not missing something. I read about the brake fluid too. There are no warning lights/ABS lights or anything else on, the cruise just doesn't work. I did find a thread where an actual wire was broken but most are related to the above. So, what is the 3rd row light? Is it the one on the spoiler?

Yes it is. GM has a habit of making that light do funny things to their cars. On my 95 camaro, if the third brake light bulb is out, the ABS light is on. I'm new to W Bodies, but I've heard it does screwy things to them too.

The third brake light is required for cruise to work. Check and make sure it's working. That's step one in cruise control diagnosis.

Here's some more information if it makes a difference. First off, the 3rd row light is working. Next, when I turn on the cruise control, not set it, just turn it on, the message window says something like "cruise control on". Does any of that help?

I'm making a list of things to check when I can actually get my hands on the car again; throttle body connection, re-check all the lights/turn signals etc and the cruise control fuse.

If I end up actually having to replace the module, is taking the steering wheel of and putting it back on pretty simple? Thanks
