2004 gtp shuts off while accelerating

My 2004 Grand Prix GTP 3.8L shut off today. First the check engine light came on when I was driving at about 50mph. Then when I stepped on it the display said "reduction in power", and shortly thereafter it stalled. It started back up but did the same thing under heavy acceleration. It popped up several codes p0069, p0068, and p2228. Has anyone had the same problem? Thanks.

Happened to me once. threw no codes though....power reduced sounds like it put itself into limp home mode to protect the motor.

As far as the codes go...

p0069 - baro sensor pressure and map sensor pressure difference too low or too high

p0068 - unexpected throttle posistion and indicated engine load

p2228 - baro sensor signal voltage low

so probably a bad connection at the MAP or BARO sensor or faulty MAP or BARO sensor, or an air leak in your intake system (which would explain the p0068)

these sensors are located at the back of your motor on the other side of the supercharger. but i would check your intake tubing first and make sure there is no leaks.

if anyone wants to add to this feel free.

hope this helps. if not...i would have a mechanic have a look at it.

OH and didn't even realize this was in the introduction section...if ya need help definately post in the general tech discussion more people will notice it there.

and welcome to the forums ;D

This happened to me at one point... I forgot what the cause was, since I had a lot of issues at the time, but it sucked.

Good luck, and welcome!
