some lazy teenagers tried to hot wire two of my cars at my friends car lot. one being my 04 grand prix. ok so the a holes broke the ring on the theft module now car wont start. i went to the junkyard and found an untouched 04 grand prix in pretty good condition and grabbed the ignition switch , lock cylinder and theft module ring. even had the original key in it. i installed all of that into my car and it still wont start when i try to do the relearn. i had an extra blank key i bought for an 05 malibu and had it cut for the gp. it had the plus sign on it with the circle. i tried to relearn it with that key but it didnt to anything. i guess because different transponder types. i ordered correct blank today.with what i have now , is there something i can work with to still get it working? right now i have the old key from the broken theft module ring, the junkyard theft module ring and key with cylinder. would i be able to just go back out there and get the bcm and pcm and swap into mine and would it start? or did i mess up by installing the theft module ring already?

Do the relearn using a cut regular key and the old transponder key tied to the cut key and it shoulf start right up.

I didn't really have to program another key. I used the old key and cylinder with the junkyards theft control module. It cranked right up with out a relearn. Thank goodness. Really curious if using another pcm and bmlcm from another car would get it to crank. as well. Just like the bmw with ecu and ews and bcm

You shouldn't have had too, I figured it would start, I just misread and had your timeline messed up. I thought you had already replaced the cylinder and ring and it didn't start.
