2004 GP. Can I put 05 and up stock stereo?

Hi Guys,

My name is Josh, and I'm new to the forums! I tried looking all over the internet for my answer and this forum as well with no success, Im sorry if it has been covered somewhere else.

I have a 2004 GP GT. I would like to replace the factory stereo with a factory stereo from a 2005+ GP that has MP3.

Since MP3 was not available in 2004, I am wondering if there will be any other issues, (other than having it unlocked) such as incompatible computer? Has this been done before and is it a complete waste of money. At this point I have no interest in going aftermarket.

I know you can run a touchscreen Nav from a GXP in the 04's so I don't think it'll be a problem.

I thought the only way to use your mp3 player was by using a 6 disc changer and modify it..

I use a "casette tape adapter" if your car has a tape deck... $9.99

You can use the 6 disc changer, get a harness run it on the aux and use it for your MP3 player.

Pm negative one, he knows alot more aboout it than me, as he has donw it to his car..

One of the optional radios for the 04+ GP's is one that will play mp3 from CD's not an MP3 player per say.

Ya my bad, bad wording im looking for a cd player that reads mp3 cd's.
