2003 SE Cold Air Intake

I have a 2003 GP 3.1L SE and I was about to replace my stock air filter with a cold air intake and noticed that my air box was also my main computer box. I was wondering if anyone has bypassed this problem by either creating a new computer housing or modifying the box. Any help would be great.

I haven't done this myself, but I'm pretty sure there is an L-Shaped bracket that mounts between the CAI and the MAF sensor which has the fittings to accept the PCM.

Look around online and see if you can find it. I can't remember where I saw it. It had what appeared to be a L-shaped bracket to support the filter, and a tray below to hold the PCM, complete with the posts to mate with the frame punchouts that the original air box used to attach to the frame.

Thanks,

Same here. Mine just lays down in the fender...never was driven easy and the thing didn't go anywhere :D

Which cold air intake system are you looking to get? If it's a Wizair or Thrasher, they have an area to strap the PCM down to inside the new box that comes with them. If you're talking about just sticking a pipe in there with a K&N air filter on the end of it, then that's a hot air intake, not a CAI. You may actually LOOSE horsepower with one of those, as sucking in gobs of air doesn't do much good when its boiling hot air from your engine compartment.

If you decide to go that route anyway, you can get a GM PCM tray for a Chevy S-10, which can be bolted down to the car (beneath where the air intake box is now), and fits our PCMs perfectly. I believe those run $15- $20 brand new from GM, or you can try to score one from the junkyard for even less.

sweet. i am working on doing a ram air set-up. i'll look into the s-10 box, since i have a friend that works at a wreckers. thanks.
