hi i have a 2002 gp gt with 86000miles. lately it has been shutting off while on the freeway. not just the engine, everything, engine, electronics, everything. i took it to my local shop and got it back today. my shop is about a half mile away. i picked it up today and it shut off FOUR TIMES in that half mile...any ideas on whats wrong??? thanks

I would say battery/alt problem, but u said it starts back up hmmm someone else will know.

Just go out and check the air filter, if its clogged, easiest fix.

lol air filter is fine, so is the fuel filter...cat was replaced last year because it was clogged so its none of those...thanks for the help anyways!

check to see how tight ur battery terminals are. i kinda almost think theyre loose. ive had situations where i went to walmart, got groceries, came out and got absolutely nothing. grabbed hold of the negative terminal and it was tight but i moved it like a cm. started right up. ive also had it happen to plenty of other cars. just grab i believe an 8mm socket and take em off. double check for corrosion, put them back on and see if the problem happens again.

battery terminals i bet is your problem, either too loose, too corroded or there is something stuck in the terminal not allowing a proper connection. take them off, clean them, and tighten them back up and see where you are at

Please be more descriptive. I understand why Hippo went after stalling vs totally dead car. Most describe a stall and mention how power steering and brakes stop working, which is indicitive of a stall.

You are saying the radio, power windows, dash and all idiot lights go out at the same time as the engine stalling?

That's battery connection related typically.

when you remove the battery from a running car, most of the newer cars just die, so if you have a bad ground, the battery is unhooked now, and it stalls out.

check your battery, the alt wires, the grounds on the engine,(off the bell housing ) and chassis, (by the battery tray i believe.) the starter wires too. and where the outside engine harness plugs into the fire wall, these cars have that, right? sometimes they get corroded or just come lose.

I had this happen to me awhile back and it ended up being a faulty ignition fuse. Have you checked your fuses to see if any are bad?
