2001 GTP steering wheel controls and fac amp install double din?

Hey guys i have an 01 GTP and i want to install an aftermarket deck with aftermarket amp and subs BUT i want to keep the factory amp with speakers and also steering wheel controls.
Whats do i need to keep the factory amp working and also the steering wheel controls?Will a normal harness work and keep the factory amp working?

Also does a double din fit in a 01 gtp nicely or is there modification needed?

I did searching but wanted a direct answer to my questions so i do this all right.

For either a single din or double dinit will either be jvc or for double din im looking at the sony 6.1 XAV62BT not that it matters i dont think
 


You'll need to power the turn on wire for the factory amp with the remote amp turn on wire. Same one you'll use to turn on your new amp. A standard wiring connector can work. you might want to add a couple wires to it or tap into the other things you'll need. I bought a second connector, pulled some pins and added so that everything was plug and play with my new connector.

Search on a post by Buickman104 about radio for that powering of the amp wire. It's detailed there, including magic pixie dust mod.

Then for the steering controls, look into the Axxess add on. It was super easy and works great.
 
Yes i know it needs modification is there a write up on the site about it?Is it hard? In my 01 blazer all i had to do is cut a peice of plastic and buy custom brackets to mount it and it looks great.Would it be that easy with this car lol?
