2001 gtp question on what this sound could be

Car started doing this last night after i got it retuned and was driving home, on the highway car in front of me hit a piece of tire and had no way to avoid it at like 75-80mph it hit under the car.. so when i got home i noticed the sound when had the windows down parking the car. any thoughts on what it could be?

check the plastic inspection plate under the trans, by the oil pan's square side, it could be smashed into the flex plate.

that sounded like plastic to me, but hey it could be the crank hitting the oil pan.

depending on the size and where the dent is you may, and i do mean may be able to pull it with a toilet plunger, the kind thats a real suction cup at the end. or a small one, hard to find but i have seen them.

make it stick to the pan and pull it off hard and fast. this works well for dented doors and such, the pan is thicker and this may not work.

could even try to glue a something to the pan and pull the dent if the plunger dont work. like epoxy something you can pull on to the pan.

or get a new pan, not all that easy to change.

but do check out the inspection shield.

checked under but aint see no inspection shield there at all is the flex plate always visible from under or did that cover it cause i can see it and sound it coming from @ that area by the torque converter/flex plate i can hear it slightly as motor idles from under the car so i unsure what this is hopefully nothing major

no you should have a plastic shield there so that the flex and torque converter are covered up.

get a flash light and see if it got mashed up into the bell housing or a piece of it.

it wasnt never there i dont think when trans was installed, any chance the trans filter maybe would have fell off during the impact from the tire cause i was told to check that cause earlier i tried to drive the car and the noise was still there then started getting issues taking off from stop light, then when i got home would not reverse so... i was told that could be the issue that the fluid isnt rotating through the filter and starved of fluid it would stop going... so after few hours tried to start the car and then it was able to reverse but the noise was still..

Possible if it hit it hard enough, but I would think it would dent the living daylights out of the transmission pan to do that seeing as how the filter stays in place during normal driving which has just as many bumps and vibrations along the way.

WURz TEH PICtars.

Also, it could be something related to the accessory drive...think pulley, tensioner, etc.

Yeah, that's why I ripped all that bullcrap off.

Who cares about a little road grime...if you clean your car often you don't have to worry about it.
