2001 GTP Power Seat Problem

On my way in to work this morning, I felt the need to raise the front of my seat to get more comfortable. I raised it a little higher than I wanted, so I tried to back it down... it wouldn't budge. So I began trying the other directions, and I ended up with a seat that was too high... this was a bit of a problem since I was further away from the pedals. I tried to move the seat forward and it wouldn't go. So, without thinking I experimented and naturally it moved BACK. I had to stop the car, shut it off, pull the key and open the door to kill the acc. power. Fired the car back up and the seat did go forward, but wouldn't go down (well, the back would go down occasionally, it never completely quit). Any suggestions? Where should I start? I have no electrical experience, but have swapped non-power seats out of other cars. Would it be easiest just to swap the seat out? The seat I just had reupholstered a couple months ago. Here's a diagram of my problem.

hey i have the same problem. I talked to the dealership today just buy a whole new motor assembly. Its 98 bucks part number is 16776529

Thanks. I wasn't sure if it was a motor issue or a relay issue. Like I said, I don't know much about this electrical stuff. I didn't really feel like going to the dealer, but if I just go to the parts counter to get a specific part that I have the number for, then that's ok.

Glad you like the drawing... lol.

hey just an update i went to the junk yard today and found a power seat motor for 16 bucks. However it wasnt the motor at all it was the power seat switch itself. oh well got a spare motor incase. if you do plan on replacing it i'll give you a hint take off the seat from the frame rails to install otherwise you'll be fighting the thing for hours. hope this helps
