Im having some troubles with my GTP. Hoping someone out there has had the same things happen. well driving my tach suddenly dies and my traction control light comes on. The car still drives but with no rpm. any ideas on whats wrong. Would like to thank everyone for helping me with my boost issues before. all is fixed from you advice. Thanks

I would almost bet my next paycheck that it is your crankshaft position sensor. Its about a $30 - 40 part but you have to pull the crank pulley to get to it. There is a write up in the How To section on how to do the work.

X3... just for my 2 cents!! :D

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but a CASE learn will also be needed after this procedure....

ohh man i remember my first time getting that crank pulley bolt off had to use a 4 ft extension and a torch, i think they have locktite on the bolt? id say if you have the ability to get a case learn get it done, cause it could but not always run crappy.

I had mine changed by a mech, because u need a impact gun to remove that bolt.
Money is tight i know, but u breaking something else trying to remove it.
Is not worth the savings.
Just my 2Cs worth.:th_lipssealed1:

Sounds like a CPS to me.

No way.....:p

Find someone to do it around you're house or someone knowledgable at a parts store. Usually they are pretty good and like to make some extra money...Changing a cps is something i would trust someone to do.Theres not much you could mess up doing one. <--- I hope to god no one will prove me wrong.Because that would be a shame.

Well lets see.

1. Crank bolt too tight. Ambitious repair person uses 20' breaker bar to get loose and snaps off bolt in crank.

2. Repair person has terrible day, angry at the girlfriend/wife/boyfriend/husband, full of rage and aggressively pulls off the harmonic balancer neglecting the reluctor vanes on the back side and bends one really good. Attempts to repair and snaps off.

3. Repair person determines that he/she doesnt have the right bolt for the puller and decides to 'modify' the threads by drilling and tapping new threads. In the process the drill goes through suddenly and drills through one of the reluctor vanes and then hits wiring behind balancer chewing up the wiring harness to the cam shaft sensor.

4. Repair person remembers trick of placing breaker bar on the bolt and trying to 'bump' the starter but doesnt know which way the pulley spins and takes a 'whack' at it since they are feeling lucky and have a 50/50 shot. They guess wrong, breaker bar swings around crashing through everything.

5. Repair person has trouble getting crank bolt out and decides to use a little heat, sets engine bay on fire.

Did I miss something?
