2001 gt traction control problems

i just bought a 2001 grand prix gt with a 134,000 miles on it and ive been noticing that there something wrong with the traction control. i notice when i turn the key on that the low trac light works on the dash and stuff but none of the lights turn on when the tires break loose saying that i have low traction. and when i push the trac button it does turn the trac on or off. at least none of the lights ever turn on so how do i know if the hole system is bad or if just the trac button switch is bad?
 


Next time the road is wet, find a large area, then floor it from a standstil but don't let it shift into second.

The "traction control" which actually doesn't really exist on non GTP models doesnt come on for a second or two of no traction. Its stupidly slow to react.
