2001 GT needs brake overhaul and struts

My 2001 GT has been neglected for too long. At 92,000 miles its still on original struts/springs and all brake parts with the exception of pads. I know i have at least one caliper that the boot is torn (around the piston).

I plan on keeping this vehicle for a long time so the plan is to replace all 4 calipers, rotors, struts/springs and new pads all the way around.

Since i am replacing parts now would be a good time to upgrade, right?

Looking for a good setup that doesn't require modifying any parts....just bolt back on.

From what i am reading the 06+ impala calipers would work?

Are guys doing front and rear with impala calipers?

As far as struts go...NAPA or Monroe? Quick struts seem like the way to go

I have the 16" Torque Star wheels.

Thanks in advance for any and all suggestions!!

get r1 e line rotors and scorched ceramic pads off ebay, they we be the best brakes you ever had. around 200 for all 4 corners shipped.

being you want/need new calipers, this is the time to up grade to F bodys front calipers. will cost you no more really then stock replacements.

you can get power stop caliper iirc, they come powder coated as well. they should have the rears as well.

i just picked up a set of ebay struts for my regal, 221 shipped. ill have em installed next week i hope.

Thanks Scotty, looks like I need to spend some time reading the Big Bad Brake thread too.

anything larger then f bodys needs larger wheels, so to keep it cheap, f bodys are the best bang for the buck for us. unless you also want to run larger wheels and tires. cha ching lol

I really like my polished T-stars! So it'll be F-bodys or Impala calipers for the front. And maybe just oem for the rear....unless I can find some GXPs.

My rear end sits an inch lower (27 1/2" from ground to top of wheel well) with an empty trunk and full tank of gas. I'd like to find "police/taxi" struts that fit but not if they'll raise the car much.
Someone mentioned in another post that the 2003 impala police struts raised it about an inch, and that the newer police struts were designed to lift the car.
Anyone with experience with older model police/taxi struts?

You do get a few options to pick from. KYB and AC Delco seem to be the obvious choices from my perspective.

I don't think quick strut should be associated with appearance. Quick struts are for lets turn this pig around and get it done results.

The guys apparently on the Impala forums say the police quikstruts raise the car, then they raise the car.
Bilsteins raise the car just like the results have said. Not by much but they do raise it.

I would think KYB or AC delco would be a better bet for near OEM ride height.
If you come to Madison I will let you have my old compg springs

Thanks guys!! Yeah, even getting the OEM AC Delcos would be an improvement in both ride and ride height over the 16 yr old struts and springs on it now.
