2001 GP SE - Swap Manual Pasenger Side Seat and (Non-Working) Power Driver Side Seat?

The power driver's side seat won't move forward or aft, although the height and tilt adjustments do work. I'm hoping for just a bad switch or something easy /cheap to fix. No indication that the motor is trying to run in the fore and aft mode.

For a short term quick fix, so my wife and I can both use the car (she's 5'3, I'm 5'11), can I do a simple driver/passenger seat swap?

From what I have read on the subject, it looks like I'm going to need to manually move the seat forward by spinning the seat control cable with a drill, or somehow jumper power to the seat motor to get at the rear hold down bolts. Is there only one motor, or is there one for each direction of motion? Anyone have a schematic of the wiring?

FIXED. As they say at Staples..THAT WAS EASY! Root cause of the problem was an old garage remote control under the seat that managed to jam under the fore and aft drive motor (there are in fact three motors under there) and pulled the power connector plug to the motor off. Not easy to get at, but I was able to work blind and by feel to get the plug back on the motor. At first I was not sure how the plug lined up to the receptacle on the motor (it's on the front side of the motor, which is hidden by one of the other two motors), but by looking at the other motors, was able to figure out what my fingers would be feeling. Raising up the rear of the seat, and lowering the front of the seat as far as possibler helped a lot to get my hand up under and around the motor to plug the wiring back in.

Was able to get the circuit diagram from the Auto Zone repair references data base,,,a great on line resource.

For those trying to get a power seat out of a junkyard car, and need to move the seat forward and backward to allow access to the hold down bolts, applying power to the two motor leads will move it in one direction or the other, reversing the leads at the battery will change the direction of motion. Since it's hard to get at the terminals on the fore and aft motor, I would first remove one of the connectors from the up/down motor that is very easy to get to from the front, cut it off of its wires, leaving enough leads at the plug to connect the wires to the battery you are going to use, and plug it into the front /back motor (you will have to work blind like I did to disconnect the existing plug and plug in the other one that will apply the battery power). After you get the seat out, you can restore the plug you "borrowed" from the front up down motor back on to its original harness leads.

Was amused but also angered (at the dealers) reading the threads submitted by other people having the same problem as me and the dealers immediately wanted to sell them a new motor assembly for big bucks. Check the easy stuff first! It is far more likely with almost any automotive electrical problem to be something simple/dumb like a loose, broken,or disconnected wire than a failed and expensive component.
