2001 gp gt

I have a 2001 Grand Prix GT Coupe Limited Edition that has 108,000 miles on it that is now hesitating on 1st and 2nd gear, only when warm....It never hesitates or feels sluggish when cold.....Mechanic told me it was my Catalytic Converter but I don't believe them.....going to change my plugs and fuel filter, neither of which have EVER been changed....Any ideas? The hesitation feels more like the engine is getting choked off and sputters until I let up off the gas....Any help would be greatly appreciated!

First thing I wold check for is a vacuum leak, check all hoses and vacuum connections for cracks, breaks, loosness. How is it at WOT?
I don't know what the cat. converter would have to do with it unlees it was melted inside restricting flow, and that causes different problems. Not only that, if there was a problem with the cat. conveter, that means there is somthing else wrong too because converter do not just go gad, somthing has to cause there malfunction such as incorrect a/f ratio, or incompatable chemicals that harm the catalyst.
What condition is the air filter in? PCV valve clean? throttle body carbon up?

I would def. start with plugs, wires, PCV valve, fuel and air filter replacement. Might clean the MAF as well. 2nd the notion for checking for vac. leaks as they are known to creep up around 100K from what I've seen (and experienced).

Have the LIM/UIM gaskets ever been changed?

Jay

theres a recall on the cat so you might as well go get it fixed cause its free and have fun with those plugs lol difficult to do on these cars
