Well had a interesting story, so my cousin called me to day because her impala kept dieing and her LOW OIL light had been, she was driveing it with the light on and when she got to work it sounded like a lawn mower, so my mom fallowed her to walmart and put a quart in it, and it ran fine. So tonight i changed her oil, and it ran fine, nothing in the oil. The car has 200,500 miles and the sticker i had put on said 187,000 miles, that was suppost to be her next oil change, so she drove like 13,000 miles with out an oil change. It has a 3800 S2 It still runs like a champ after the oil change i was shocked, i might put new gaskets on it this weekend, it leaks about every fluid, I know for sho it needs Lim uim valve cover gaskets, but this is just my shocking and weird story!

Re: 2000 Impala story

Holy crap thats a long time. I went 6k one time on accident and I thought that was bad for me.

Sounds like we're in about the same boat. I've got 2 gp's and an impala :th_laugh-lol2: All the engines offered too lol except the 3.1. '01 GTP L67, '02 Impala 3.4, '03 GT 3.8

Re: 2000 Impala story

These motors are damn durable at times. Likely it'll be fine.

Sticker is past due
Light is on

She won't learn until it costs her thousands.

Re: 2000 Impala story

that is true, I think she is looking for a new car now, and I put some masking tape and in big letters put CHANGE OIL AT 203,000 on her dash lol

Re: 2000 Impala story

Currently own a 00 GP, 04 Impala SS, and 08 Impala SS. Had an 00 Impala LS a few years ago. 3800 engine is top notch, rated one of the best engines of the 20th century. When I wanted a daily driver instead of putting the miles on my 04 Impala, it was W-body all the way. No need to buy another Haynes manual. Haha. I wanted to get something a little sportier than the Impala, so I looked at Monte Carlos and GP Coupes. The GP Coupe was the right price when I pulled the trigger. A G8, new police Caprice, or Chevy SS is the next four door car I buy.

I love the New Police Caprices, do you know if they are v8s, and 3800 is my favorite GM engine so far lol.
I also love g8s

Re: 2000 Impala story

Holden is the name GM uses in Austrailia. I can't remember the engine size. Check the Wikipedia entry for Chevrolet Caprice.
