2000 gtp tranny Prob

Hey everyone, i have a 2000 gtp with a tranny prob. drove it today to work and at any stop it would jerk at take off but after 5 mph drove fine. parked it, went to leave and dident have D or 3 gear. but i have 1,2, and R. car has 85,000 miles and never had a prob. its a well taken care of. if anyone has had this prob or can help i would appreciate it. its my every day driver.

sounds like the forward band broke on ya. time for a rebuild or a used unit swapped in.

It's fixable through the side, but it's a bear. Also depends on how ambitious you are.

if i put a used one in is it hard. dont have much cash can i do it my self. i have some car knowledge. also does it have to be off a gtp?

Yes it must be from gtp or regal gs as they have the HD diff and a 2.93 gear ratio.

its broken. nothing will fix it but a new forward band.

if you drop the trany pan, you'll likely find a square piece of metal laying in there, thats part of the band. proving its broken.
