I am new to this forum thing but im having a slight poroblem my 2000 grand prix gtp is reading a really high barametric pressure reading of 98 and ware im at its only like 14.7 all it wants to do is sound like its sucking a ton of air then it dies, thought it was map sensore but its not and its not a vacume leak or mas eather so im kinda confused at this point.

Sounds like it's not running long enough for you to use any of the info you are getting. Fill us in though.. how long does it run, what did you do last, what happened that caused it not to run.

It runs for about 15 sec before it dies but if i keep on the throtal it will keep running aslong as it dtays abouve 4 grand or so. When ut died the first time i pulled up to a gas station and put it in reverse and it just died but we discovered kastnight that if we jumped two of the wiers on the plug for map sensore that it would run on its own it ran good for a couple min then started acting like it was chugging then died and now all it wants to do is start and die agine. My friend who is a macanic at a local car dealership is thinking it might be the computer after all the checking and testing buy we are going to try one more thing but its got bolth of us bafled so anyother advice or ideas to try would be great

Try this.

Reason that it would stay running at 4K rpm is because at that point, you'd be in high speed mode.

I already tryed that as well as a diffrent map and mass sensore somthing is telling it to read 98 on barametric pressure and its suppose to be 14 and theres really no explanation why its reading so high

When you are talking barometric.. you are getting that reading from the map sensor...a split second before it fires up right?

Ok.. if that fuel relay didn't help. Have you unplugged the maf sensor?

Its when the car is just sitting with the key on so i guess u could say its right befor it fires. And yes we have unpluged maf sensor

Ok, kinda like I thought... you are reading no vacuum and no boost. Which ... is totally normal for a non running engine.

Unplug the maf and try to start it
Check for fuel at the fuel rail
Check for spark.

Let's get this diagnosed ...because there isn't much that goes wrong on these babies to keep them from starting.

Sorry its been a while sence I was on here last but we figured it out for the most part prity sure its the relay box cause my friend had his computer hocked up to it and had it on grid mode and I was messin with the relay box and it spiked and everything went back to normal its running know been driving it to see if somthing happens agine but he thinks maybe its got some carose on the back side of it or somthing havent pulled it off to look yet so thats ware im sitting right now with the ol'girl
