hey guys new here but i have owned an prix for a long time.... but im buying a new one(2000) GT to mess around with. the trans wont shift into 3rd anyone ever do one. im a machanic but dont mess with trannys> i was told it was a shift silinod B? can i change that by removing the back trans plate?? im buying it in the morning so it would be great for something tonight guys, thanks and im chris. love the prix's and have a thunderbird SC too.
 


If 1, 2, and 4 work, it's not a soleniod. Take a look at the info in the links by searching on "trans info" and my screen name. It'll give you the info to ohm etc for testing. Plus it'll show you the shift combo's that prove it's not the solenoid.

These trannies are known for killing third clutches or the third sprag when you lose third. I'd hit car-part.com and find one local for a good price with warranty.

Then search "transmission eas y" without the space between the s and y and my name. Piece of cake to swap it. Being a mechanic, should take you about 4-5 hours tops.
 
ok, so i have been looking into the car more. it shifts good through second, then theres nothing.. u just rev it out at max rev. doesn't try to even shift into third or tries too? it just revs out.. staying in second. the scanner said shift B stuck open or off?? im buying the solenoids this weekend so im going to do all of them, think its them or not.

it has a lot of power just through 1,2 then revs out but it %$#^ing screams through those two gears!!
